Your Guide to Cooking Seafood

Cooking seafood feels intimidating and cooking seafood incorrectly can scare away even the biggest seafood fans! So, we sat down with Chef Tony to help guide you through the process and give you the confidence to try it at home.

1. Make sure to buy high quality seafood.

o Use your senses. Make sure to smell the seafood that you’re buying, if it isn’t fresh the smell will tell you so.

o Ask the seller what the harvest date was (AKA when was it caught or harvested).

2. Do not overcook your seafood.

o Seafood is delicate, overcooking it can lead to tough, chewy and dry food.

o Cook on medium/high heat until it reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees.

* Chef Tony recommends using a stem thermometer to check!

3. Use simple ingredients and recipes!

o You never want to over power the natural flavor of seafood.

o For example, a simple lemon, garlic and herb recipe for halibut is one of our favorites!

Happy cooking!
