Say Hello from the Oyster Side!

Aw, shucks! It’s Oyster Festival Time!

It’s our favorite time of year.  A time when we take a moment to celebrate our favorite bivalve, the Oyster.  Oysters have been around for millions of years and are considered an adult after only 1 year of age.  At Anthony’s we serve a variety of oysters, which vary from location to location based on what is fresh.  Generally, a selection of Kumamoto oysters, Barron Point Oysters, Olympia Oysters, and Anthony’s Select Oysters are available in March.  Anthony’s Select Oysters are from Discovery Bay and harvested by Johnson & Gunstone Shellfish, a family owned shellfish farm operated by their 5th generation.

To celebrate, select Anthony’s will be featuring a Slurp Competition each Friday evening in the bar.  It is free to participate in a Slurp, but you must sign up at your favorite location.  To win, you must be the fastest person to slurp 12 oysters, without using your hands.  The winners from each location will be invited to compete in the Slurp Finale on March 31, and be crowned the 2023 Anthony’s Slurp Grand Champion.

Nearly all Anthony’s locations will be featuring oysters during the month of March, but not all will have Oysters on the Half Shell and Slurp Competitions.
